The Netherlands has been a popular tourist destination for many years, and the country sees many millions of visitors each year coming to sample the many cultural, culinary and 'other' delights the country has to offer. Relaxing walking or cycling trips by day, some epic nightlife after dusk and some wonderful history to take in amongst some outstanding natural beauty - the Netherlands has a lot to offer.

While Amsterdam has picked itself up quite a reputation for being a getaway spot for young groups, the city has more than enough for those not visiting simply for a few good nights out. The canals and waterways through the city are an attraction in themselves, and many boating trips are available to help take in the Golden Era architecture that surrounds many areas of the city. Back on dry land, visitors will find dozens of museums and art galleries for their perusal, such as the Rijksmuseum and the Rembrandt House Museum both offering some stunning artistic and historical sights for all who visit. After a hard day of cycling, walking or boating visitors to Amsterdam can take in some of the most highly-regarded nightlife in all of Europe, visiting countless restaurants, bars and cafes as well as theatres, nightclubs, the Opera House and many more. The infamous Red Light District is a popular venue for many, though certainly not one for the faint of heart - and don't forget about the licensed 'Coffee Shops', where drug use is 'tolerated' for those that have an interest in it.

It isn't all about Amsterdam, however, and elsewhere in the Netherlands are more than enough other attractions to keep a visit fresh. The beautiful city of Eindhoven, the home of PSV, the Netherlands' second city Rotterdam, with a very different look to that of the distinctly old-style Amsterdam (owing to the bombing the city suffered in WWII), and the home of the numerous embassies and official government houses, The Hague. As well as the relatively close-by cities through the country, the Netherlands offers a fair few natural beauties and sights for those wanting a more relaxing, countryside pursuit, with the Hoge Veluwe National Park just one of the fine nature-based attractions for all to enjoy, along with the ever-popular tulip fields.

The Netherlands is a country that should be seen by all - it is unique, yet comforting and homely. The Dutch people are a peculiarity in that they're so utterly open to all people regardless of race, creed, sexuality or religion and this is something that everyone should experience - if only to show that it can be done! The country has many fine examples of great works of art, some fine windmills, a long and interesting history, some fine cuisine and nightlife to suit all tastes, as well as many areas of incredible natural beauty.
